Asymmetric silicone fluids are functional silicones featuring different terminal or segmental groups along the siloxane chain—typically with an inert group (e.g., alkyl or aryl) on one end and a reactive group (e.g., hydroxyl, vinyl, epoxy, or acryloyl) on the other. This structural asymmetry provides tailored interfacial activity and directional reactivity, making them ideal as interface modifiers, emulsifiers, coupling agents, and controlled-reactivity crosslinkers.
